Cross stitch text generator
Make a name or sampler message with Crosspic’s block alphabet. Type your words, arrange the letters, and open the actual stitch chart in the editor to add a border or motif. Creation and exports are free.
This tool uses one 5 × 7 block alphabet, enlarged by whole stitches. It supports A–Z, numbers and the punctuation shown below; lowercase becomes uppercase. It does not load fonts or generate cursive lettering, accented letters or other scripts.
Your stitch grid
27 × 11 stitches · 69 full crosses · 1 thread color
Whole chart: 4.90 × 2.00 cm / 1.93 × 0.79 inches.
One filled square is one full cross. Empty cells remain unstitched; screen colors approximate physical floss. Scroll inside the chart to inspect long or tall designs. This is a digital chart, not stitched fabric.
Try a small name chart
- Enter HOME at scale 1, with a 1-stitch letter gap and 2-stitch chart margin. The result is 27 × 11 stitches and 69 full crosses.
- Change to scale 2. Each alphabet square becomes four crosses: the chart is 47 × 18 stitches with 276 full crosses. The gap and margin stay at their selected stitch counts.
- For a two-line message, press Enter. Center alignment places shorter lines in the middle; there is no automatic wrapping. Check the grid before saving.
- Choose Edit chart & export PDF to open a new editable project. Use the drawing tools for decoration, then export a color, symbol or combined chart. Save a separate editable backup.
At 14 stitches per inch, the first whole chart is about 4.90 × 2.00 cm. Empty chart margins are part of that rectangle; add fabric allowance separately with the fabric calculator.
Fit the lettering to your project
Scale 1 letters occupy a 5 × 7 grid each; scale 4 uses 20 × 28. Spaces occupy a blank letter-width block. Letter and line gaps are measured in stitches, independent of scale. Leading/trailing spaces and empty lines are retained deliberately. Keep the text to 120 characters and each chart side to 500 stitches. Reduce scale, shorten a line or add a line break if the chart is too large.
For an unsupported name or a different alphabet, draw your own lettering on a blank chart or convert lettering artwork you own. The generator reports unsupported characters rather than silently dropping them.
Keep your editable chart
The preview is generated on your device. Downloading a .crosspic backup does not require saving in browser storage. Opening the editor saves a new local project; browser storage is not a permanent backup. See backup and restore help and the PDF printing guide.
