Free Kawaii Cartoon Girls Starry Stack Cross Stitch Pattern (PDF)
Stitch three kawaii cartoon girls surrounded by stars and hearts with this free PDF: a 100 x 125 chart, 17 colors and four printable chart sections.
Three wide-eyed cartoon girls form a cheerful stack surrounded by pink, yellow and blue stars and green hearts. This free cross stitch pattern turns the bright illustration into a rectangular stitched design, keeping the pink bow, orange hair, dark outlines and blonde pigtails easy to recognize. The eight-page PDF includes a stitched preview, project guide, four chart sections and a floss-and-symbol key. The download is at the bottom of this article.

This preview comes directly from the downloadable PDF. Both the PDF and promotional images use 17 colors, but several thread numbers differ. Follow the PDF's own chart and floss key together when choosing thread and stitching this version.
Pattern details and finished size
| Detail | PDF specification |
|---|---|
| Chart size | 100 x 125 stitches |
| Total stitches | 12,500 full cross stitches, including the background |
| Palette | 17 colors with DMC numbers and symbols |
| Backstitch | None |
| Suggested fabric | 14-count Aida |
| Thread setting | 2 strands |
| Finished design | About 7.1 x 8.9 inches / 18.1 x 22.7 cm |
| Suggested fabric cut | About 13.1 x 14.9 inches / 33.4 x 37.9 cm |
The suggested fabric cut includes 3 inches / 7.6 cm of extra fabric on every side. This is a full-coverage chart: the pale background is stitched, rather than left as bare fabric. White accounts for 7,368 stitches, so plan for the background as well as the colorful characters.
On 16-count Aida, the design would measure about 6.25 x 7.81 inches before adding a border. Our 14-, 16- and 18-count Aida guide explains how fabric count changes the finished size.
From cartoon artwork to a cross stitch pattern

The original illustration uses smooth curves and bold black outlines. In the chart, each curve becomes a series of stitch squares, with small color changes around cheeks, eyes and hair. The tall arrangement keeps all three faces in view while the scattered stars break up the background.
To make a separate design from a drawing or picture of your own, upload your image to Crosspic. Crop around the main subject, adjust the stitch dimensions and palette, and check the eyes and outlines in the stitched preview. Larger faces and clear shapes are useful starting points when converting cartoon artwork. See our photo preparation guide for help choosing and cropping an image.
Using the four chart sections
The PDF begins with a cover, preview and project guide. Four numbered chart sections follow, with the floss-and-symbol key on the final page.
| Chart section | Columns | Rows |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1-59 | 1-81 |
| 2 | 57-100 | 1-81 |
| 3 | 1-59 | 79-125 |
| 4 | 57-100 | 79-125 |
Adjacent sections repeat three stitches: columns 57-59 and rows 79-81 overlap. Stitch each repeated area only once. Use the printed coordinates and page maps to continue from one section to the next. Bold grid lines mark ten-stitch blocks, and arrows identify the pattern center.
Print a single chart section first to check symbol readability. Keep the key nearby and mark completed stitches as you work through the dark outlines and pale face colors. Our guides to reading a cross stitch chart and printing your pattern can help with setup.
Preparing your threads
Sort all 17 threads using the PDF key. Its palette includes black, white, pink, pumpkin orange, lemon yellow and green, along with smaller shading colors. The key lists DMC 117 and 53 as variegated threads; compare the numbers with physical floss or a thread card before buying, because a screen swatch cannot show the full variation along a strand.
The PDF's floss estimates include 15% extra. Actual use depends on how you stitch and carry thread across the back. With 12,500 full crosses, allow several stitching sessions, keep the top stitch direction consistent, and compare completed areas with the preview as each face takes shape.
